The new closed captions in built into the chrome browser are really good
Mark Glynn
20:22
Closed captions are also great when English is not their first language
Suzanne Stone
21:28
Hi everyone a gentle reminder to check that you are on mute!
Susan Madigan
21:30
yes, basically closed captions for any video, UDL in action!
Susan Madigan

Mark Glynn
23:00
Great for teaching in terms of UDL but also great if you are doing focus group interviews
Mark Glynn
24:19
Thanks the Anne and her team Sensus Access will be built in directly into Loop for next semester, allow students to convert documents on Loop to a format of their choice e.g. converting a word document to an audio file

Grammarly Premium is great, we don't just recommend it for students but we also use ourselves in the office
Mark Glynn
30:12
Is gramma rly available for staff?
Mark Glynn
34:07
Thanks Mary
Suzanne Stone
35:16
Yes one small silver lining of Covid - the recordings. Students love them
Anne O'Connor
36:59
We would love to see the recordings of lectures a permanent aspect of DCU teaching post-covid, which would not just benefit DLSS students but also mature and international students
Mark Glynn
39:50
There is no reason why zoom recordings would continue. Capturing recordings from lecture rooms brings up other challenges. That said we do have recording studio that staff can use to record content to a professional standard. Pre-Covid this studio was in high demand and I expect that to continue when we return to campus. However the good news is that we hope to built two more in the coming months
Suzanne Stone
40:04
Yes Anne and recordings so useful even for a second view for all students
Anne O'Connor
40:51
That's great news Mark
Mark Glynn
42:14
Just to clarify my last statement recordings of online classes on Zoom should absolutely continue. Recording in classes on campus using zoom is not a practical solution without significant investment and support for staff

One thing to keep in mind is that Grammarly interferes with the AI enabled grammar and spelling in Google mail. It overrides the Google prompts which means you don’t get the automatic text prompts to finish sentences, etc. I therefore turn Grammarly off in my browser until I want to use it for a specific doc. I tend to use Grammarly more in Google docs than in MS Word. I have a personal version of the full license.
