Thanks John for a great overview! I just have a question about the variety of metrics used to measure "agri-efficiency" of dairy. I have come across frequent reference to Irish dairy as most efficient GHG per kg of dairy solids. This is clearly in contrast to the variety of more recent statistics you have presented. Is this just outdated data? Or a strategic selection of metrics and good PR as you mentioned?

Thanks John - really interesting presentation. How can improvements be made in efficiencies in Beef and Dairy production. The objective of the Beef Data and Genomic programme in DAFM is to improve the genetic merit of the national beef herd. Similarly the Teagasc MACC curve provides a number of measures to maximise efficiencies in the dairy herd. So is it really a question of bovine numbers? If so what is an acceptable national beef and dairy herd size? Should they be culled altogether?
